Typhoon Relief: Third typhoon
From Pastor Cedric Panis, La Union, The Philippines
I just came back from Manila and met with Jonathan, Jill, Trevor, Mezgebu, Powell Lemons, Ray Hickman and other CMC leaders. We just finished our crusade, then we finished our CMC Luzon 1st Annual Conference and other seminars, so I'm back to our hometown province of La Union.
Typhoon Ramil, another typhoon, was suppose to hit our province but thank God, it just had some wind and showers.. so, while we were out doing God's work, (listening to the news), HE protected us from another supposed calamity, and HE protected our home and our church family here.
Thank God for everything.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST
From Pastor Cedric Panis, La Union, The Philippines
We need prayers... Please forward to all your prayer warriors there. Please, please, pray for Pastor Sam Gonzales.
Pastor Sam is our CMC Network leader in Valenzuela, BULACAN... We will be doing a crusade in Bulacan with Jonathan Morris team, this coming November 3, and Pastor Sam is our main coordinator there in that area. Pastor Sam G. is the very first one we gave typhoon reliefs to... We sent him some money thru Pastor Arnold Acay. His home was under water, and his church was under water, with water up to the ceiling on their first floor. He lost his car that he recently purchased, and lost his church with all the musical equipments there, and we have prayed for him since... He is a very good pastor leader with a Doctorate degree, a very healthy young man of around 5'10" in height...
Now, Pastor Sam G. is in San Lazaro Hospital, suffering from high fever, headaches, and vomitting. We are asking for lots of prayers that he may recover fast, and that he will be in the same health condition, if not better and stronger, to continue to build God's Kingdom in Bulacan. We expect to see him in the CMC Luzon Conference, in Jesus name, Amen.
Thanks so much for all your prayers... If it's possible, we can do some fasting also...
God bless you all.
Cedric

Typhoon Relief: Death Toll
12/10/09 11:37 Filed in: Parma/Pepeng | Ketsana/Ondoy
From Pastor Cedric Panis, La Union, The Philippines
There are a total of 638 dead as of this date that have already been recovered due to Typhoon Ondoy/Ketsana and Typhoon Pepeng/Parma. 270 + of them are from Typhoon Ondoy, so, about half from Typhoon Ondoy and half from Typhoon Pepeng, and the major cause of death on Typhoon Pepeng are the landslides, and the major cause of Typhoon Ondoy are from flood waters.
Till today, our roads going to Baguio, (3 major roads) are closed due to landslides.
Vegetables are getting expensive as they cannot transport them to the cities and towns outside Baguio, where most of the supply of vegetables are coming from.
We now have sunshine, internet, and our home has fully recovered, but our neighbors and others are still cleaning up till this very moment. We continue to pray for them.
Thanks.

Typhoon Relief: More Landslides
11/10/09 04:10 Filed in: Parma/Pepeng
From Pastor Cedric Panis, La Union, The Philippines
Thanks for all your support and prayers...
Yes, that's what we all need, PRAYERS...
This incident made me cry this morning.. our church member came and gave a report on their barangay, their barangay captain died of landslide, mud covered him, and after two days, with the very foul smell, they dug up his body, and it was standing up.. along with his body was another victim, and the worst, yet another victim, a girl that died in this same mudslide was pregnant.. Ouch, this just made me cry... Then, our church member, as she was telling this story, they are neighbors with the victims, and that night, when they felt a very cold thing on their back, she thought it was a snake??, but when she woke up, the earth was moving, and sure enough, mudslide on her back, she immediately got up, took her children, ran as fast as they could... and praise God, they all went to church this morning... Wow...!!!
Then, our church, in the very low area, in front was flooded, in the back was flooded, and when I woke up, I got a bit worried about all our musical instruments to be under water already??? but guess what, the church where we hold service, which usually gets flooded on just a small rain prior to our church being there, wow, with this worst typhoon, the church did not even get flooded, just a very tiny wetness in the floor that we wiped with a rag, and all the musical equipments are safe... Nothing, yap, not a thing got damaged !!!, God is really good in our church where Marcy and you and Jonathan has preached already... that's why, we got God's protection. God loves us... YES !!!
We intend to buy 10 sacks of rice for La Union, a small amount that we can deal with... @ P1,300 per sack, that would be P13,000 pesos only... we can deal with that...
Art D's team is arriving on Tuesday night, and travel to La Union, and we start the crusade on Wednesday.. We will be doing 4 days in La Union and for the very first time, we will do 4 days in Pangasinan... and with the 4 barangays in Pangasinan, 3 of them are under water at this time, but when the day of the crusade comes, the water would have subsided and the basketball court would have dried up, so, on we go, and proceed to Pangasinan... we plan to bless the province by giving, not only FREE bibles for the follow-up, but surely, we will give them 1 or 2 kilos of rice, instead of merienda's... the more bible studies to be established, and churches planted in Pangasinan, for God's Kingdom and glory... Yes, the Victory is HIS, as always...
If we get 4 additional sacks of rice, then we can give one sack of rice to each of the barangay's that we will be doing the crusade there in Pangasinan. Yes, with this devastating Typhoon Parma, the more we can share God's word., and yes, we will be having a Victory Party in Pangasinan on Oct. 22, although I won't be there, as I will be in our Board Meeting, our crusade staff will be there.. We placed a P10 T. pesos budget, in additional to the Victory Party's budget, so we can invite all the host pastor's and all their workers.. must be a big Victory Party... haha... and even though I will miss it, my prayers are with the Team.
I thank CMC and everyone for all their support and prayers..
God bless...

Typhoon Relief: Landslides

All roads going to Baguio are now closed due to landslide. More than 90 people dead and 40 still missing due to Typhoon Parma. This is the worst typhoon I've seen since we moved here in the Philippines, but God is so good, as He has spared us from any major disasters. The water has gone down a bit. Some roads are not passable yet, but hoping it will all get cleared by the time we have the crusade and conventions.
I still don't have internet, but I hope to get back on track by next week.
Marcy, I received the P60 T. = $1,300 for relief goods to be used for our CMC pastors and their families, who were hit hard by the typhoon. We will get food for them. Thanks again for all your help. See you soon.
Thanks so much for all your prayers.
God bless.

Typhoon Relief: Parma still pounding La Union

From Pastor Cedric Panis, La Union, The Philippines
The CMC church that we planted in Aringay, La Union, where Jonathan and Paul Klenner and myself, together with the rest of the crusade teams stayed, well there is a church going on there. They have been meeting every sunday, since Jonathan's Team did a crusade there in February of this year, Well, sad to say, this church is now underwater, up to shoulder high, around 4 feet of flood. And we here in La Union are still experiencing this Typhoon Pepeng/Parma as of this writing. (Oct. 8, 1:15 PM)
There were two dead in Barangay Alaska, Aringay due to typhoon Parma, where we also did a crusade in Aringay. Pastor Jun Tarlit is helping out there and also in Pangasinan where we have lots of CMC Pastors there also.
As of this writing, Pangasinan is flooded, 6 feet, in Umingan, Natividad, San Manuel, Tayug and roads are not passable.
The Agno dike high water is about to overflow. Villasis and even Tarlac are possible outlets if this dike overflows... Many agricultural crops have been lost already.
It has been raining here since Sept. 30th, and we really have lots of rain water already. Very strong winds and lots of rain here in La Union now.
This typhoon just paralyzes most of the work we have to do for the upcoming events, (seminars, crusades, conventions) but thank God, we still have the internet and cellphones to communicate to others. And we will proceed with these events normally.
Please pray for us.

Typhoon Relief: The Needs
07/10/09 04:11 Filed in: Ketsana/Ondoy | Parma/Pepeng
From Pastor Cedric Panis, La Union, The Philippines
Money is being sent around to the different pastors and churches by CMC Philippines to help with Typhoon relief:
Pastor Sam Gonzales in Bulacan reveiced some help and assistance. His church and home flooded up to the ceiling.
Pastora Elsie in Quezon City whose place was also underwater.
Pastor Arnold just bought food for the families in his church.
Flood victims of Typhoon Ondoy and Typhoon Parma needs additional help, and here are specific needs.
Food and bottled clean water.
It is our intention to help in this manner.
1. Buy 20 sacks of rice, and one sack cost approx. P1,500 pesos., so total cost for rice will be P30 T. pesos.
2. Buy powdered milk for children, esp. the 5 and below kids. P200 pesos for 700 grams or 1 pack. We can get 100 packs for P20 T. pesos.
3. Get clean bottled water, they cost P10 pesos each. 1 box has 24 bottles. = P240 per box and we will get 50 boxes. = P12 T. pesos.
Total = P62,000 pesos @ 47 to 1 exchange = $1,320 dollars.
Targeted places to give.
50 % will go to Metro Manila victims, esp. the 30 families that are staying at Pastor Arnold Acay's church, as their homes are uninhabitable, and also to the other churches where we have our CMC Networks.
25 % will go to La Union, for the CMC pastors who were victims of floods from Typhoon Parma
25 % will go to Pangasinan for the CMC pastors that are still flooded till now.
Of course, you can send us more for ongoing relief and we can always buy more rice for their food. I will send you the receipts once these goods are purchased.
Again, many thanks for all your help.
God bless.

Typhoon Update: 5 Days
06/10/09 16:25 Filed in: Parma/Pepeng
From Pastor Cedric Panis, La Union, The Philippines
We have had Typhoon Parma here for 5 days already, and it's just lingering here.
We expect typhoon Parma to be here till this weekend, and it's supposed to leave La Union by Oct. 10. We are all soaking wet with a whole week of typhoon, it's difficult to get around with all the water and flood that's on the road, on the highways, but we still continued our Bible Study group last night, with lots of rain, and lots of prayers.
Please continue to pray for our home, as we are getting electrical grounding already, due to the soaking wet electrical wires in the street, the power just keeps going on and off, and appliances are getting damaged already...
Thanks for all your concerns and prayers.
God bless you all.
Cedric
ps: I was thinking of just shutting down the whole power in our house, but we would be paralyzed without power. No electricity here means no water, no cooking, no internet and communications, and basically nothing !!! We have faith in Christ who gives us the power thru the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Typhoon Update: Parma

From Pastor Cedric Panis, La Union, The Philippines
Here is a photo of where Typhoon Parma is, and what it's doing, based on our Philippine weather forecast, PAGASA. No wonder, I have
not seen the sunshine since Typhoon Ondoy, back to back typhoons here. Almost 2 weeks without sunshine ???
Anyway, typhoon PARMA hit La Union last saturday, and it came back and suppose to hit us again this Friday or Saturday? but this time, it might not be as strong. Anyway, too much rainfall here now, and still strong winds, and very cold... this weather is really unusual, and it slows down the work we have to do... so many things, like the upcoming crusade with Art D. next week, Oct. 13 till Oct 21, then the CMC Board Meeting on Oct. 22, then the very first CMC Annual Convention in Luzon on Oct. 23 and 24, then the seminar with Art D. on Oct. 25th in Makati, then the crusade with Jonathan's Team in Bulacan on Nov. 3 till the 13th...
If only we had a bit of sunshine, it will really speed up things. Anyway, I ask for all your prayers, gather all your prayer warriors, intercede that the rain stops and gives us sunshine.
Typhoon PARMA is back and it will exit La Union by Oct. 10, saturday... It's only Wednesday, and the typhoon is just lingering here in Northern Luzon... hmmmm....
Okay, see you soon.
God bless and thanks for your prayers.

Typhoon Parma's local name here is Typhoon Pepeng. Our province, La Union, was one that got hit by this typhoon. It was in our path...
No major damage, we were prepared. The wind was very, very, strong last night, with lots and lots of rain, and due to the very strong wind, the water was being blown upwards, thus getting inside our bedroom. Good thing, it just wet our flooring, even after we closed all the windows...
Our home, which is concrete, is all soaked. I did not realize that concrete can get soaked and wet... We are now waiting for sunshine, but none, so far... The sunshine never came, so it's just been raining all day long...
Good thing, we still had sunday service, and our church was also wet, and about half of our regular attendees came, I understand... so, we just praised the Lord for our safety, and God's message was so good, to be ready in season and out of season, we are still close to God, and continue to seek HIS goodness.
We thank you for all your prayers.
Messages and videos are coming in from the Philippines daily. Here is what we have heard from them so far...

Typhoon Update: What a Mess

From Pastor Cedric Panis, Manila, The Philippines
What a mess. Yep, that's the right word. A BIG MESS.
We are helping pastor's in the Manila area right now. We have asked assistance, food, clothing, financial, whatever...
One of our CMC pastors in Bulacan, for instance, his church is more than 10 feet underwater, he lost his home, his car he bought around 2 months ago is gone.. his kids lives in the rooftops..
Many people have not eaten in 2 to 3 days already. Pastor Arnolds church is now home to 30 or more families, imagine that !!!
Me and Joy are okay here in La Union. We have an upcoming crusade in two weeks, and I pray to God to give me the strength and wisdom to do priorities in sooooooo many things I have to do.
Let us help the flood victims specially our network members. Please send emails to our Partners specially those who came to participate in our crusades. Maybe you can also make the appeal through the CMC international website. Direct their donation to CMC international. We have done a similar appeal some years back during the Leyte landslide and our Partners have responded. I am still travelling around Samar and Leyte.

Typhoon Update, Project Ondoy Relief Help
01/10/09 17:37 Filed in: Ketsana/Ondoy
From Dr. Joel Maulit, for Project Ondoy Relief Help, Global City Harvest Inc.
I am praying and working out hard in our 'Relief Efforts' to come up with goods, clothes, medicines, canned goods, bottled water, noodle packs and coffe packs to help the huge number of victims of Typhoon Ondoy in Metro Manila.
Some colleagues really was hit hard by flash floods and the devestation that it carries. They are really flat out as in zero stuff only evacuating with their dear lives.
One of which is Pastor Sam Gonzales. A great preacher and teacher of the Word. Senior Pastor of his ministry and a leader in the community. Lost everything - all their stuff, clothes, their car- house totally submerged.
The Great Mega City Metro Manila is 80% (by World Vision) hit by flash floods submerging communities, paralizing Cities,
destroying almost everyhting in its path.
I'm saddend seeing my City literally helpless by this Calamity.
I'm sincerely appealing one more time for Relief Help. We will be onboard next week in our "Relief Efforts" targeting those hit hard by the deluge.
here are my giving instructions for cash donations:

Typhoon News
01/10/09 02:09 Filed in: Ketsana/Ondoy
From Pastor Cedric J. Panis
Typhoon Ketsana, the International name, and Typhoon Ondoy, the local name, are one and the same typhoon...
we will post u asap with pictures and videos as to how our relief efforts are moving - we have to live and fight another day Pilipinas!
the Metro Manila area, where they are so much devastated. I am coordinating everything with Pastor Arnold Acay, our Southern Luzon CMC coordinator.
He has sent P8 T. pesos to Pastor Sam Gonzales in Bulacan, who has lost his home, his church, his car, and basically wiped out... they have experienced more than 10 feet of water, full of water up to ceiling, so I plan to give Pastor Arnold P10 T. pesos to reimburse him and for all his efforts in helping Pastor Sam and other CMC Pastors in the area.
And by the way, inspite of all the misfortunes of Pastor Sam, he will be leading us in the upcoming crusade in November with Jonathan Morris Team. God bless his heart.
Okay, will continue to communicate on this issue.
If you can send some goods, balikbayan boxes, food, rice, clothings, etc.., any spare items, you can send them directly to Pastor Arnold Acay.
Meanwhile, an urgent need here. To send P20 T. pesos to Pastor Arnold Acay, you can send it thru Marcy Babor, who sends me financial assistance. The financial aid will go to pastor Sam Gonzales in Bulacan and Pastor Elisa from Quezon City... both need donations, and Pastor Arnold will also buy some rice and some can goods.
Used clothings are most welcome.
